Father Francis, spitters spotted on the road.  Party meets family from (near Rowling?), they say fey spell affected there, too, prompting them to flee south.  Mother is an elf wizard, father is warrior, daughter is sorceror.  Daughter has tryst with Eric.   Father Francis visits Armus, says he's pursuing Ezekiel to attone for his failure to do so earlier, and will summon the party when he finds him.  Armus agrees, but makes Francis promise to return to Taylor's Vine if he hasn't found Ezekiel in two weeks.  Francis has clearly changed, and it is difficult to tell whether or not he has been corrupted by his cousin.

Party destroys three spitters in battle, returns to escort family (mother Tabitha, daughter Lynn, and ____).

Mother elf teaches party about pattern magic.

Armus finds evidence that there are more spitters about, but that the tanglewood forest is fighting them.  While camped that night, the party discovers a battle between spitters and a party of fey.  Armus goes ahead to scout and pursues the hooded priest of Marist leading the Spitters, who initially flees Armus, believing him to be Ezekiel's acolyte.  The priest proves to be a deadly foe and nearly slays Armus before fleeing, leaving the battlefield.  The party joins the fey in finishing off the spitters, and the surviving fey melt into the woods when the battle ends.

That night a fairy approaches the party to investigate why they intervened in the battle with the spitters and leaves as soon as Armus explains that the party joined the battle to fight the agents or Marist rather than to help the fey.  Interestingly, the fey had no idea of who Marist was.  Eric consulted the party regarding Marist's apparent intersest in him, and some theories concerning his links to the spirit realm were exchanged.  After these discussions, El-hanan shared a watch with Eric and inquired more deeply into the nature of his magic, and Eric showed him the spirits of some of his family, which greatly moved him.

The rest of the journey passed quickly, and the party soon entered the Elven lands.  They intimidated their way through an attempted ambush by brigands and then entered "the shaped lands," where pattern magic has been used to prop up trees and root systems above the ground.  The border town of _______ is located in this area, and serves primarily as a trading post for humans, elves, and orcs.  The party became guests of Tabitha's family and explored the town while they waited to be heard by the village elders.  Eric introduced himself to the town's ancestral spirits while El-hanan made efforts to bond with their host family.  The next day the party did some shopping, and Eric was drawn to a shop selling orcish spirit-powered items.  Armus was disoriented by his exposure to this magic and briefly lost his memory, forcing him out of the shop.  He and El-hanan went on to the village tavern, where Eric and Brother Jacob caught up with them when Eric concluded his business.
