The Dengrens:

The Dengrens are a cluster of human kingdoms on the Northern coast of the continent of ______.  Politically, they are divided into 3 kingdoms:  Nordengren, Landengren, and Sodengen.  These kingdoms share a common language, religion, and culture and relations have been generally peaceful in the recent past.

Nordengren

The capital of Nordengren is Rowling, and to its north is the disreputable shipping city of Hanlon.  The marshes of Nordengren are home to the nagas.

Sodengren

Sodengren was overrun by a mercenary group known as the black claws for many years, but was liberated by the combined armies of Nordengren and Landengren approximately a hundred years ago.  Taylor's Vine is located in Sodengren.  The capital city of Sodngren is also known as Sodengren.

Landengren

Landengren lies closest to the mountains and to the orc lands of the human kingdoms.

The Mountains:

Between the Dengrens and the orc lands are a chain of mountains, home to the halls of the dwarves, clans of gnolls, tribes of trolls, and the last of the giants.

The Orc Lands:

To the east of the Dengrens lies the empire of the Orcs, known as Coria.  The Orcs have dominated Liathen for millennia.  Coria is ruled by council of matriarchs, and has historically treated non-orcs with contempt.  Halflings are kept as slaves, as have a breed of corrupted elves referred to as "hounds."  A lmassive inland sea lies at the center of the Orc lands.

The Elf Lands:

The forests to the south of the Dengrens are populated by the Elves of Liathen.  On the border with Sodengren lies an area known as "the shaped lands" in which the earth subsided following an earthquake, but pattern magic was used to save the trees and keep them and their root systems suspended at their original ground level.  Magic abounds, and the elves are not above flaunting it to get a reaction from human visitors.
