Non-player Characters

 

Allies:

The Baron - Ruler of the barony of which Taylor's vine is part.  He achieved his rank through merit, and possesses talents for both leadership and problem solving.  He conducts his business less formally than many other nobles.

 

Malik Brown - Bodyguard to the Baron.  Malik is a tall, dark-skinned tribesman who has learned spirit magic like that used by the orcs.  He wears a wolfskin as a cloak.

 

Brother Jesse - Brother of the Order of Fergus and mentor to Brother Jacob.  They traveled together for some time during Jacob's training.

 

Father Durham - High Priest of Elizar.  Known for fast and decisive action in emergencies.

 

Family on cart -

 

Townsfolk:

Father Francis - High Priest of the temple of Elizar.  Although he is not a member of the town council, he wields considerable power in the town and is well regarded there.  Even tempered and pious.  His cousin, Ezekiel, seeks to entice him to join the clergy of Marist.  Has recently lost his blessing of Elizar, been excommunicated by father Durham, and fled the town.  He seems to be obsessed with redeeming himself by combating his cousin.

 

Trevor Guilford - young man, around 16 years old.  Said to be illegitimate.  Trevor is afflicted with lycanthropy and can change forms into a ______.  He is moody and tends to keep to himself, prefering the forest to the village.

 

_______ - Dwarf owner and barkeep at the  ___________, the village tavern.  Friendly, observant, and difficult to rattle, he has expressed a willingness to assist the party in gathering and disseminating information through his bar.

 

The Framlinghams - Prominent Middle aged couple that came upon hard times and were forced to sell their estate to Eric when he arrived in Taylor's vine.  The Framlinghams have no children, and continue to reside at their estate and manage the vineyard for Eric.  They were recently revealed to be worshippers of Marist.

 

_____ - Hobbit cooper of the village.  Head of only hobbit family.  Proud of his success and wealth.  Convinced that great danger is coming.

 

Pyrus - Dimwitted farmer in the village, lives with his wife on their land.

 

Thomas and Janelle - Two young kids in the village, both around 10 years old who have caused trouble, played tricks on other villagers.  Former students of Armus.

 

Adversaries:

Ezekiel, Priest of Marist- Aggressive, manipulative, and perverse cousin of Father Francis, who seeks to corrupt the village.

 

_____ - Masked companion of Ezekiel at the festival of Vernal Balance.

 

______ - Elf? priest of Marist, appears to be distrustful of Ezekiel and his companion.

 

Fey Leader - A fey noble who remained on Earth after the fey realm was sealed off who has aged badly.  He recently returned to the fey realm to recover from this ordeal.  It was he who engineered the new gate to their world.

 

Fey noble at the festival - Visible to Armus despite his disguise, this fey is the murderer of Armus' wife.  A portion of his soul is currently held by Eric after Armus destroyed the fey's sword in a duel at the Festival.

 

diguised Fey female - Was first found hiding in the hollow of a corrupted tree and posed as a human sacrifice victim.  That night she attempted to seduce Brother Jacob and then fled when she failed.

 

Quickling - Fey responsible for collection of human children for sacrifice in rituals to open gate to fey realm.  Slain by the party in the Forest.

 

Gnome Artificer - Spirit of a gnome mage/artificer who has kept his spirit alive for hundreds of years by drawing energy from magic items.  Completely insane.  After being driven from his workshop, he drowned many travelers in the river before being destroyed by El-Honan and Eric.

 

Wait and See... :

Elf chick - Elven shape-changer of some kind, the elf chick is skilled with bow and blade and destroys the fey she encounters.  She has an interest of some kind in Trevor, presumably due to his shape-changing abilities.  To others, she is stand-offish and mocking, which has earned her the emnity of Brother Jacob.

 

Tanglewood Forest - In some ways, the forest behaves like a single organism and may be self aware.  Its level of consciousnous, intelligence,  motives, and personality are unknown, but it is has demonstrated hostility towards humans and especially towards human civilization since its creation by the elves.

 

The Old Hermit - Said to be insane, he lives on the edge of the Tanglewood forest and propesies doom when he comes to the village to trade for supplies.  He is avoided by most villagers.  Little else is known of him.
