Three heroes of Nordengren, fresh from their victory at Sodengren, are called by King Jansen Sentry and given a new mission.  Drexel, the fist of Winken, Earl Mobray, and Sal join with heroes from Landengren:

Kern (played by Robert A.): pensive half-orc ranger with knowledge of the orcish borderlands gained working as a guide for slavers.  A great archer and a practitioner of some orcish magic.

Crackle (played by Marc L.): hot-blooded halfling dog-rider skilled with the whip.  His dog is Reykjavík.

Thomas (played by Drew N.): cold, calculating and cautious spy known for precise swordsmanship.

Start by consulting a Naga oracle that lives in the swamps near Rowling.  It makes cryptic predictions.  The heroes start their journey towards the orc lands.

Battle of Backwater(?), fall of _________.  Battle with Christopher Donovan, the Marist priest who lead the cult cell in Rowling.  Monastery of Cioreh.

Giants, last few dozen live in the mountains on the border.  They worship Winken.  Give us tales, dreams, advice, and send us to the orc lands via an old Orcish ruin.

The party explores the ruin, which turns out to be the tomb of an ancient General.  Several themes are observed: Hippos guarding the dead, pairs of half guardians, spell-linked spiderwebs, significance of the number 8.

Arrive at orcish frontier outpost, watch one of their patrols, observe widespread hobbit slavery.

A beautiful hobbit named Silver attempts to seduce Crackle.  Her affection is genuine, but it turns out that she works for Diablo, a former associate of Kern's.  He is a slave trader, who captures hobbits in the Dengrens (often using Silver as bait) and then sells them in Coria.  Kern soon encounters Diablo and his team at the inn where the party is staying, and a showdown ensues.  Only two of Diablo's team escape: Ellen (the wife of Diablo) and Mr. Grimes.

The druid follows the party for some time and attempts to avenge his fallen animal companion by killing Kern's eagle (using a hold spell while it is in flight).  When this fails, he tries to kill Drexel's cat while it hunts at night while the party is camped.  The cat unexpectedly channels fire magic and drives back the druid (in his wolf? form), but the party is woken, leading to a confrontation.  Drexel challenges the druid to single combat, but receives visions from Winken prompting him to surrender the cat to the druid.  He slays it, but its spirit (which is tied to winken), forms a fiery hand for Drexel.  Upon command, the flames can be hidden or the cat can detach and act independently in its elemental form.

major trading city, some resistance there, but it's pretty weak.  Ivan prompts the leader to cast a big Laken spell.  Kiernan turns out to be reincarnation of Sal via Cioreh.

Meet Spider.  Buy hobbit slaves and free them.

"Night of Two Flames" - Set fire to _____, Use fire as diversion to free more hobbits from stew factory and then hide them in abandoned house.  Freddy later sets us up in an abandoned warehouse that we are able to customize.  The party presents Freddy with a highly enchanted shortsword (the only +5 weapon known to exist in Liathen!) in recognition of his contributions to the mission.
